Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-cutting
The two entry units taken together over two days — the usual starting point for anyone picking up a saw for work.
Lantra Awards ITA — Chainsaw Maintenance, Cross-cutting and Basic Felling
Maintenance, cross-cutting and felling up to 200mm as one four-day integrated block. Popular with farms and conservation groups.
Fell and Process Trees up to 380mm
The industry standard felling ticket. Site assessment, directional felling, snedding and dealing with hung-up trees.
Chainsaw Maintenance, Cross-cutting, Fell and Process Trees up to 380mm
Zero to a full felling ticket in one five-day block — the three core units delivered back to back.
Brushcutters / Trimmers — Maintenance and Operation
Two days on scrub-clearing machines: guards, harness set-up, cutting attachments and safe operation on slopes and around obstacles.
Woodchippers
A machine that takes 90% of the volume off a job — and takes fingers if you get it wrong. Checks, feeding, blockages and safe stop.

ScJ Training has its own sites in Lincolnshire, East Yorkshire and the North East — but training and assessing work is carried out throughout the UK. If you have suitable ground we will come to you; if you have not, we will find somewhere that works.

Courses are delivered through Lantra Awards, City & Guilds (NPTC), Qualsafe Awards, IOSH, or as one of our own bespoke courses. ScJ Training Ltd is a Lantra Awards and Qualsafe Awards registered centre, and we use Lincolnshire Proficiency Tests Committee as our main approved City & Guilds assessment centre.
Yes. Group sizes are kept deliberately small so everyone gets individual attention, and we can arrange a complete package including assessment either at your premises or at a suitable site.
Ask. We offer a full suite of training and can often source or build a course around a specific requirement — send an enquiry and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.
Emergency First Aid at Work and First Aid at Work certificates are valid for three years. A First Aid at Work certificate can be renewed on the two-day requalifying course provided it has expired by no more than three months — after that you need the full three-day course again.
It depends on the course. For chainsaw and machinery courses many learners bring the saw or machine they will actually be using at work, which we would encourage. Get in touch and we will confirm exactly what to bring and what PPE is required.
